Examining the cost of piracy

NAGRA will be a featured speaker at the NAB Show’s Broadcast Engineering & IT Conference. Christopher Schouten, Senior Director of Product Marketing, will present the session titled “Examining the Cost of Piracy” on Wednesday, April 26th at 3:30 p.m., Room N260, in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“As the piracy business evolves, content owners are left asking what they can do to combat emerging threats – and increasingly the threat of IPTV set-top box and Kodi plug-in piracy," said Schouten. In order to guard against them, the industry needs a holistic approach to content value protection: securing and marking live and on-demand content, monitoring for piracy online and over the air, and acting decisively wherever it takes place across the planet.”

The session will examine the current threats and impact of piracy on pay-TV and content owners and what they can do to minimize them by exploring current trends in CAS, DRM and multi-DRM, as well as the use of forensic marking to enable a closed loop system where piracy is quickly tracked back to its source and definitively stopped in order to limit its impact on the legitimate value chain.

NAGRA will showcase anti-piracy services and all-screen user experience solutions at the 2017 NAB Show. NAGRA’s anti-piracy services will be co-located with NexGuard on Booth SU3424. The OpenTV Suite demonstration will be presented by appointment at the Renaissance Hotel, Suite #632
