Cheseaux, Switzerland – June 3rd, 2013 – SmarDTV, a Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD.S) company, today announced that the Belgian cable operator Telenet is launching, in June, a CI Plus conditional access module (CAM) in its network in Flanders and Brussels.

SmarDTV’s SmarCAM-3.5 modules embed the latest generation of the NAGRA conditional access system, ensuring the highest security for all Telenet channels. Thanks to the SmarCAM-3.5 module, these channels are directly accessible on integrated Digital Televisions (iDTVs) with the original TV remote control. SCART or HDMI cables or power leads are no longer needed.

“The CI Plus module is an addition to our digital products that corresponds to the demand of TV subscribers, wanting a basic digital TV subscription without any extras. These modules provide our TV subscribers with an attractive solution that can be used with TV sets compliant with CI Plus Standard on the market since 2010,” said Laurent Van Tornhout, Telenet Director of TV Product Management.

“Telenet is a valued new customer and we are delighted to be able to provide our latest CAM to them,” said Conor Ryan, SmarDTV VP of Marketing. “The SmarCAM-3.5 module brings many benefits to Telenet subscribers including being non-intrusive, very simple to install without any new cabling and remaining invisible once installed.”

Note to the editors
SmarCAM is a module relying on the DVB Common Interface (DVB-CI) and CI Plus standards and plugs directly into the TV set to decrypt premium pay-TV content. It is a non-intrusive solution and very simple to install as it does not require any new wires, and is invisible once set-up. It is operated directly from the TV set’s remote control to maximize ease of use and does not require an additional remote control. The modules are very energy-efficient for a lower environmental impact.

CI Plus is a technical specification that adds additional security and features to the proven DVB Common Interface Standard. It allows CI Plus compatible consumer electronic devices, such as Integrated Digital Televisions and Set-Top Boxes, to access a wide range of pay-TV services via plug-in CI Plus Modules wherever the CI Plus Technology is supported by the local pay-TV provider.
