Kudelski’s session “The Online Future of Pay-TV” will address the latest innovations
and trends in the OTT, pay-TV and telecom markets

Cheseaux-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland, and Phoenix (AZ), USA – April 19, 2021 André Kudelski, Kudelski Group Chairman & CEO, will be sharing his thoughts and insight on the state of the global Media & Entertainment industry at this year’s APOS 2021 online event taking place April 21 at 3:30pm SGT.

Despite the challenges over the last year, the M&E industry has been resilient in overcoming various obstacles, a theme that will be explored in-depth during the upcoming session, “The Online Future of Pay-TV”.  Moderated by Vivek Couto, Executive Director & Co-Founder of Media Partners Asia, the event will address important topics impacting industry players in the post-COVID world, including the rise of piracy, OTT aggregation and new ways to connect and entertain consumers.

“The last year was like entering in a tunnel – we know for a fact that when we exit it things will not be in the same place as when we entered,” said André Kudelski. “The industry is now fully embracing the digitization that has occurred in 2020 and we are uncovering new opportunities that make innovation possible. While it might have been a forced transformation, we can look for the silver lining of this pandemic that shows numerous benefits and collaboration efforts that have and will continue to prosper in this new environment.”

Key innovations discussed in the session will include:

  • Addressing the evolving piracy challenge – The potential impact piracy has on the value and creativity of content development and consumer behavior is significant. Commitment by industry players to address this issue with technologies and service offerings that go beyond DRM and include watermarking, trace and detect and anti-piracy measures, will remain critical.
  • Empowering operators – There are new ways to connect with consumers and monetize content with direct-to-TV offerings, such as TV Key Cloud. This partnership between NAGRA and Samsung delivers instant access to pay-TV services directly on consumers’ televisions.
  • Improving business performance NAGRA Insight is a data-driven business analytics offering that leverages specific and real-time data to address tangible business challenges such as reducing churn or identifying new revenue generation opportunities – a real challenge in today’s world where past data does not translate to today’s new world.
  • Shifting the game – Sports fans of the future will no longer simply watch sports. Sports entertainment is delivering a truly, immersive and engaging experience for fans. NAGRA’s Sports-as-a-Service offering provides sports federations, leagues and associations with turn-key, cloud-based and app-driven streaming solutions that drive monetization and fan engagement.
